ebm-papst A&NZ leading the way in CSR in Australia and New Zealand

For the second year in a row ebm-papst A&NZ was ranked in the Top 10 companies in Australia as a part of the Australian Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility (ACCSR)’s Annual Review of the State of CSR in Australia and New Zealand 2017. The report was presented and top-ranked companies were awarded at a breakfast this morning in Melbourne.

The largest longitudinal study in Australia and New Zealand of corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices aims to map key trends to provide evidence-based insights for CSR leaders to drive change in their organisations. CSR is defined as “the organisational practices that address the impacts of an organisation on business, society and the environment or seek to create positive societal value through core business.”

The Top 10 companies for CSR in Australia for 2017 are ebm-papst A&NZ, Abergeldie, Arup, Deloitte, LexisNexis, PWC, Tata Consultancy Service, Transurban, WaterAid, and Yarra Valley Water.

The Top 10 in Australia are companies which received a minimum overall CSR management capabilities score of 78%. CSR management capability scores aim to measure how embedded CSR processes and values are across an organisation. They are;

  • Stakeholder engagement, “People in our organisation understand the linkages between us and our stakeholders.”
  • Integrating stakeholder values, “Managers are able to communicate valuable information about stakeholders across the company to assist in decision making.”
  • Stakeholder dialogue, “We engage in open dialogue with our stakeholders, treating them as equal partners.”
  • Social accountability, “Our people believe that our organisation is accountable to stakeholders for the firm’s social impacts and we effectively report our social performance.”

With strong internal leadership and support for CSR activities a founding principle of the organisation, ebm-papst A&NZ is grateful to be recognised for the company’s continued efforts to make a positive impact in the communities that the company works within.

Simon Bradwell, Managing Director of ebm-papst A&NZ said “since making the Top 10 last year, a key thing for us to realise was the impact of our internal communication, the language we use and how we engage with each other. We have seen that everybody here is on board with what we are doing – in our work with charities, fundraising and community involvement but also in terms of how we talk to our clients, the relationships we have with our customers and the types of clients we aim to do business with.”

ebm-papst A&NZ has taken part in the study for a second year, with employees joining 1,215 professionals in completing the online survey.
