German trainee Down Under: Alina’s internship at ebm-papst A&NZ

Alina Friedl has just completed a four-month internship at ebm-papst A&NZ. Her visit was part of her International Business traineeship at ebm-papst Mulfingen (Germany). As part of their education, students are encouraged to spend some of their practical training abroad. Alina was interested in going to Australia, and so she joined the team in the Melbourne office.

Here’s her recap of her time in Australia:

In 2012 I started to work with ebm-papst in Mulfingen. Due to my traineeship (I study International Business), I had the opportunity to work abroad for our subsidiary ebm-papst A&NZ in Melbourne in the second half of 2014.

My new colleagues gave me a warm and friendly welcome and I felt very comfortable from the first day. My tasks were very diversified. Most of the time I worked in the Marketing field. My tasks included updating the website, writing press releases, but I also got some insights into the financial department. I also conducted and analysed a customer survey.

During my time abroad I also took the opportunity to discover Australia. I went on a lot of weekend trips around Melbourne. I visited Phillip Island, the Grampians National Park and Wilsons Promontory National Park. Of course I also explored the Great Ocean Road. Moreover I flew to Sydney and Adelaide. And on the remaining weekends I discovered Melbourne... Now I know why it is said to be the most liveable city in the world! Since Australia is so far away I wanted to discover as much of the country as possible during my stay, and it was definitely worth it. I love this country and I especially like the Australian way of living and the people’s friendliness and helpfulness.

I can say that my time Down Under was one of the best times of my life. I learned a lot at work, improved my language skills, gathered countless new impressions and also became more independent.

Thanks a lot to the people involved at ebm-papst Mulfingen and ebm-papst A&NZ who made this internship possible and to all my colleagues over there who contributed to an unforgettable time and helped me whenever I needed it. Thank you.
